Special Needs Family Support

Meet your Family's Special Needs: The Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) is the DoD Special Needs Support Program for military families. When you have a child or other dependent family member who has special needs, moving to a new duty station can feel overwhelming. Enrollment in the EFMP is mandatory for military sponsors with qualifying family members and ensures that your family receives the maximum available support throughout your Sailor's career. Your Sailor must enroll you and your family, or you run the risk of not receiving the medical, educational or community resources that your family needs.

EFMP & Support Team

Your Sailor is eligible for Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) if a dependent family member has a special medical or educational need to include: special medical, dental, mental health, developmental or educational requirements, such as adaptive equipment assistive technology, devices and services, and or wheelchair accessibility. The Navy EFMP team consists of the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF), Detailers, and the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) EFMP Case Liaison.
