Spouse Employment & Navy Career Opportunities

In the Department of the Navy -- and throughout the Federal Government -- military spouses have greater opportunities than ever before to be hired as members of the civilian workforce. In some cases the military spouse has preference when all the qualifications requirements are met.

ESGR

The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) program develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the Reserve Component through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. The program also provides assistance in resolving conflicts between service members and their employers.

Military OneSource

Military OneSource offers practical information and resources for pursuing education goals, achieving career aspirations, and for obtain employment as you transfer to new duty stations with your Sailor. 

Naval Services FamilyLine

Naval Services FamilyLine offers several classes to help navigate military life. Their Continuum of Resources and Education (CORE) program offers a selection of seminars and workshops focused on empowering Navy spouses. The COMPASS program was developed by spouses for spouses new to the Navy; however, all spouses are welcome.

Resumes

A good resume illustrates the scope and level of your employment responsibilities, the results you have achieved, and the relevancy of your experience. It is focused on your accomplishments and what you can bring to an organization. Visit your Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) for Resume Writing Assistance. 

Spouse Licensure Reimbursement

As part of the ongoing Navy Family Framework effort to expand and improve the experience for Navy spouses and families, Sailors may be reimbursed up to $2,000 (combined total) for the state licensure/certification costs and business costs of a spouse arising from relocation to another state or jurisdiction due to a permanent change of station (PCS) move.
